Conway Shares Family Photo - People Can't Stop Staring At What's In Background

President Donald Trump's White House counselor, Kellyanne Conway, did an interview with Bergen Record in her house. It seems she wanted to show herself in her own environment with her family, possibly thinking that people would find it easier to relate to her. Social media users spotted something in the background caught on camera, however, and it only sparked up even more controversy.

Ms. Conway sat for the interview in her Alpine home and spoke on a wide range of topics. She reiterated the theory that former President Barack Obama was wiretapping Trump when he was a candidate. At one point, a photographer snapped a photo of Ms. Conway brushing her daughter's hair. One eagle-eyed Twitter user was quick to point out something he spotted in the background.

It seems Conway isn't all business. She apparently tried to show off her softer side with a fairly cheesy glamour shot. In the 8-x-10 framed photo, Conway is wistfully looking out into the distance. Her curly blonde hair flows around her, and she's wearing a black, fur-lined cape with a hood. A strand of pearls hangs from her neck and a champagne-colored drape graces the background of the portrait.

The shot looks like something cheesy Narnia-themed shots you’d get with a group of friends on a whim at a shopping mall one day after having too many cocktails at lunch. It's actually from the 2009 edition of the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute’s annual conservative women calendar. Conway, who is on the board of the organization, was Miss January that year. Some other conservative women who posed for the calendar include political pundit and author Ann Coulter, blogger and columnist Michelle Malkin and journalist Mary Katharine Ham.

The image is entitled 'Pretty in Mink', and the caption about Conway reads, "If there were a queen of polling, Kellyanne Conway would be it. One of the most quoted pollsters in the nation, Kellyanne is president and CEO of The Polling Company, Inc., and is the author of What Women Really Want."

The caption adds, "Kellyanne is wearing a navy sheared beaver jacket with fox trim and detachable hood from Miller’s Furs.”

Not surprisingly, the calendar shot sparked an avalanche of memes. A hooded Conway was edited into the Hunger Games, with people joking that she’s the ‘Mockingjay’. Another series of memes compared Conway to Sarah Jessica Parker's broom-riding witch character in the Disney film ‘Hocus Pocus’. In some memes, Conway is displayed side-by-side with an evil-looking, cloaked Annikin Skywalker from the Star Wars prequels. Others joked about the pose and compared it to a Seinfeld gag: George Costanza’s famous ‘Timeless Art of Seduction’ photo shoot.

This wasn't the first time Conway posed for the calendar, but in other years the producers opted for much more business-appropriate poses and attire. The 2009 calendar, with its dreamy fantasy theming, was unique. The memes and jokes about the calendar girl shot will probably be around a lot longer than any issues discussed in the interview. Conway might want to re-think what photos she leaves out next time she does an interview in her home.
