Colorado Teacher Under Review For Inappropriate Actions With A Student

After giving inappropriate notes to a seven-year-old girl, a teacher in Colorado gets to remain employed. Aurora Academy Charter School has admitted the notes giving to the girl were not appropriate, but they also stand by the decision to keep the teacher on the staff.

The name of the fourth-grade teacher has not been released, but it was reported that the note was passed to the little girl, who is in second grade while she was at recess. It included personal photos of the teacher where he was sticking his tongue out and calling the little girl names, such as “crazy head” and “stinky butt.”

The father of the student, Cary Reed, stated, “Kind of a peculiar letter from a teacher. As I read over the letter, it was concerning since it had the teacher’s face and he was using pet names to refer to her. We (the students’ parents) felt it was inappropriate and grooming behaviors.” Reed, who has a history in law enforcement, stated that the note raised a few red flags. The next day at school, the little girl received yet another note from the same teacher.

This note had a number of additional photos and a poem that requested the little girl’s ‘friendship.’ The letter continued to state, “You make me smile.” This student is not even in the teacher’s class. When Reed took it up with the school, he received an acknowledgment from the teacher that this was inappropriate, but nothing further has happened.
