Colorado Mother Posts Moving Silent Video of How Her Husband Sexually Abused Her Teenage Daughter

Catherine St. Germain, 34, from Loveland, Colorado had been married to her husband for less than a year--but, she had known him for 20 years. She recently shared the heartbreaking story in a Facebook video of how he had sexually abused her now-17-year-old daughter.

The video was seen over 48.7 million times in just five days. Catherine hopes her family's experience will help other parents avoid the same fate. Catherine shared that it was the police who told her that her Navy Veteran husband, Aaron Tyrell Scott, had sexually abused her then-15-year-old daughter Alyssa, less than one year after they had married.

In the video, Catherine remains silent but holds up a series of cards to the her written words and pictures do the talking.

The video was first shared on April 8. In it she starts by writing, "Many of you know what Hell the last year has been for my family. I ask that you share this short video. I believe we must not remain silent, and instead shine a light on this dark subject." In addition, the video was set to an instrumental version of Yesterday by The Beatles.

In the video she also shares several pictures of Aaron, his three children and the former couple together. She explains that Aaron was already a father-of-three when the couple had started dating. He also served in the Navy and had been a police officer. She explained that Aaron seemed like the perfect gentleman.

She went on to write, "He was a US Navy Veteran [and] he was a cop for three years in Mooresville, North Carolina. His friends adored him, he was close with his mom, he loved riding his bike, he was hard-working, he was very intelligent, he was charming and romantic." Moreover, she wrote that she thought she had "finally found her happily ever after."

Then, she wrote, "On April 23, 2015, I got a call from the police.; the night before he had sexually assaulted my daughter. She was 15." Catherine then kicked Aaron out and filed for divorce--which was finalized on September 1, 2015.

Yet, Aaron maintained his innocence "until the DNA evidence came back positive." She even wrote, "Monsters look and act normal." She urged single moms to check the National Sex Offender registry. Catherine was shocked that even though Aaron was convicted to 90 days in jail and eight years of sex offender probation, that the court would not notify the mother of his three children about his conviction.

Catherine's video received an outpouring of support. Many were outraged that Aaron only had to spend 90 days in jail. Abby Alt posted, "This breaks my heart. However your strength, and willingness to share your story is really incredible. I am proud of you."
