CNN Caught Altering Trump Quotes

To say that the lines between news outlets and personal agendas have become a bit fuzzy would be an understatement. This year’s presidential election has been a pretty fascinating case study on that issue, and there are more than enough places to find either a pro-Clinton or pro-Trump stance. That being said, it would be nice to believe that the information itself is still being presented accurately - and well before the internal spin is placed on it.

As Western Journalism reports, CNN recently crossed a major line when it comes to journalistic integrity. The network has long been derided as the ‘Clinton News Network,’ but one of its recent editorial decisions takes that line of thinking to a whole new level. CNN took serious liberties with phrasing that they directly attributed to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump - but he never said it.

Trump was on a rival network Fox’s ‘Fox and Friends’ when he said the following.

“Israel has done an unbelievable job and they’ll profile. They profile. They see somebody that’s suspicious, they will profile. They will take that person in,” Trump said in the interview.

However, that quote was seriously twisted by the time it made its ways to CNN’s airwaves and online presence.

“Trump says ‘racial profiling’ will stop terror,” the CNN headline proudly blared.

In a perfect world, news organizations would present information in an unbiased manner so that voters could do the unthinkable - make their own informed decisions. While that amounts to little more than wishful thinking at this stage of the game, it’s still incredibly concerning when a mainstream outlet decides that poetic license is a sound journalistic principle.
