Rachel Cronin was shocked when her skin became inflamed and very painful. Cronin said the lower half of her face turned to "sandpaper" and broke out into a blistery rash.
She could not figure out why until she noticed a the popular Eos lip balm on her desk. The lip balm rose in popularity after several celebrities endorsed it online and in music videos. Cronin was surprised by her allergic reaction as it claims to be an all-natural and organic cosmetic item.
Cronin decided to take selfies to show the “severe rashes, bleeding, blistering, cracking, and loss of pigmentation." In addition, she has filed a class-action lawsuit against the company.
After her photos were posted online, a score of other women shared their similar horror stories. One customer wrote a customer review on Amazon that read “My EOS lip balm grew mold over the weekend when I was away from my office where I store it…” It took 10 days for Cronin's condition to subside.
A spokesperson for the company says that the product does not contain anything inherently allergic.
