Celebrity Chef Anthony Bourdain In Big Trouble After Threatening He Would Do This To Trump

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain is the latest famous face to decide that backslaps and high fives from those that reside in the liberal echo chamber are far more important than alienating potential viewers. Bourdain is on the anti-Trump train, and he doesn’t care who knows it. An enterprising reporter caught up with him at the airport in Los Angeles and baited him with a question about President Donald Trump, and Bourdain gladly chomped down on it. As the Daily Mail shares, reaction to his remarks have been mixed, to say the least.

The host of CNN’s ‘No Reservations’ was approached by a reporter from TMZ that was hoping to strike gold. Mission accomplished for the reporter, as Bourdain actually answered his question.

“If Trump and Kim Jong-Un were going to have a bit of a summit to try and mend relations and they wanted you to cater, what would you serve?” the reporter asked.

“Hemlock,” Bourdain replied.

Bourdain was referring to a poisonous plant that can prove to be fatal if ingested. Not everyone found his ‘joke’ to be amusing.

“I will never watch you or any show you are ever on. You should be ashamed,” shared one user.

Of course, there were other users that jumped to his defense.

“The far right want Anthony Bourdain fired because he jokingly said he'd serve Trump Hemlock. They are the true snowflakes,” wrote another commenter.

For what it’s worth, it’s easy to dismiss Bourdain’s remark as a simple joke and move on with our lives. However, there’s a bit more at play here. We’re talking about the suggestion of harm against a sitting president, and that’s not all that funny when we consider the fact that there are whack jobs out there that could potentially inflict real harm. Does that mean Bourdain would be directly responsible? Of course not, but it does suggest that he can find a much better way to make his point.

He was given the opportunity last year as well when The Wrap asked him if he would ever consider dining with Trump.

“Absolutely f****** not,” he replied. “I’ve been a New Yorker most of my life… I would give the same answer that I would have given 10 years ago, when he was just as loathsome.”

Ok, so Trump is not your cup of tea. Got it. But do you really need to be so over the top about it? How about suggesting that you would love the opportunity to dine with him so that you could point out the error of his ways? If you’re so passionately against him, wouldn’t you relish the opportunity to set him straight - or at least be able to rest easy knowing that you tried?

Instead, Bourdain went the cheap pop route. By extension, he ticks off people that don’t necessarily agree with him. How can you do that in good conscience when your own livelihood directly depends on the amount of eyeballs you can attract to your program? It’s nothing short of mind blowing, but we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out for celebs that insist on getting political in the long run.
