Cashier Kicks Woman Out Of Store Because Of What Her Shirt Said

A cop’s wife in St. Louis is claiming she was refused service at a local Kroger store due to her t-shirt supporting police.

The woman, named Meredith, wants her last name to remain anonymous.

“Stating that the shirt I had on was basically a slap in the face to her, and she was doing everything she could not to cry,” Meredith noted.

Kimberly Colley, the executive director of the Blue Bow Foundation, a nonprofit that supports police officers and their families, was asked for a comment. Colley is also the wife of a police officer.

"Our husbands risk their lives every single time they put on those uniforms, they're walking targets and this is the least we can do to show there is support out there," Colley explained.

Colley highlighted that the foundation is cutting all ties with Kroger over the incident.

Until now, the foundation had been a part of the Kroger rewards program, where a small percentages of sales proceeds were given to the foundation for purchases by members.

Meredith claims she still has not heard back from Kroger about her various complaints.

The company did release a statement, noting:

"We are disappointed and sorry to hear that this happened. We want our customers, associates and the law enforcement community to know how deeply we appreciate and honor our police officers and other first responders who put their lives on the line to keep us safe every day. We're taking steps to ensure this doesn't happen again."

Colley weighed in to say her organization’s actions are about more than the incident, in specific, Kroger’s slow response to the situation.

The grocery store chain says it must interview all of the employees involved before it can definitively state exactly what happened.
