Cash Freeman, Man Who Gunned Down Neighbor, Being Lauded As A Hero

A disturbing scene was playing out in a quiet neighborhood in Ada, Oklahoma, and neighbor Cash Freeman was faced with a split-second decision. Leland Foster, 27, had apparently lost his marbles, as he allegedly attempted to drown his 3-month-old twins. He threatened the children’s mother with a knife for good measure. A 12-year-old-girl that was inside of the home ran outside to get some help, and Freeman responded - but not before grabbing his revolver.

As the Washington Post explains, he wound up shooting Foster to death to prevent him from inflicting further harm on the children. The children’s mother had called the cops while Foster was attacking her and the children, and they were soon on the scene.

As the police officers arrived, a domestic violence call had turned into a homicide investigation. Freeman had shot Foster two times in the back as he was attempting to drown his own children in the bathtub. The shots proved to be fatal for him. The twins would have to be airlifted to a local hospital, but they were released the next day and are said to be doing fine.

No word on what caused Foster to fly off of the handle, but it’s quite clear that he blew a gasket somewhere along the way. Any parent that would inflict harm on their own children obviously has some serious issues, and it doesn’t appear as if anything would have stopped him. Freeman is being lauded as a hero for his actions.

“I think he did the right thing because who knows what would have happened to the babies if he hadn’t intervened. They might not have made it,” said one neighbor.

“Address this hero by the name his mother gave him: Cash Freeman,” said one user on social media.

“Sorry if you don't agree, but to me, #CashFreeman, is a hero. Unequivocally,” added another.

Foster is said to have been estranged from his wife, but it’s unclear for how long. It appears as if he went to the house and a confrontation ensued, and he decided to handle it by becoming violent. That set off a chain reaction of events that led to Freeman being pulled into the middle of it, and his life has been altered as a result.

Police questioned and released him over the incident, but he’s concerned that he’ll be facing some trouble as a result of it. The District Attorney’s office noted that the investigation is ongoing, and they will ultimately decide if the homicide was justified. Based on the fact that he has already been questioned and released, we would assume the investigation is pointing in that direction.

We’ll have to wait and see how that plays out, but this shocking incident serves as another reminder that life can change in an instant. In this case, several people’s lives were forever altered, and it all stemmed from the actions of a man that was unable to control his own rage.
