Carlos Santana Makes Obvious Blunder While Performing The National Anthem - Internet Quick To React
If you make a mistake on live television in today’s day and age, there’s a good chance you’ll be hearing about it rather quickly on social media. Virtually everyone is afforded the opportunity to provide running commentary about what’s going on in the world, and there’s a whole score of users that take full advantage of that fact. Many users are also big fans of expressing their unfiltered views while doing so, and that means all bets are off when it comes to the running commentary.
As the Independent Journal Review shares, rock legend Carlos Santana is now perfectly familiar with that concept, just in case he wasn’t already. Santana offered up an instrumental rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner prior to Game Two of the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, and the capacity crowd at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California seemed to love it.
However, there was a moment that appeared to be a bit of a flub on Santana’s part. Users were quick on the trigger to gleefully point that out.
“Why did Carlos Santana play an extra verse in the National Anthem? If you don't know the song, don't play it,” shared one user.
“Did Carlos Santana just repeat a segment of the star spangled banner or am I buggin?” added another.
“Carlos Santana without the vocal stylings of Rob Thomas doesn't do much for me,” chimed in another.
For the record, it did seem like Santana played some extra bars when he shouldn’t have, but the Star-Spangled Banner is known to trip up even the most talented performers. Of course, it’s much more obvious when someone flubs the words, but something was slightly off with his rendition. Nevertheless, he recovered to finish the number in style to thunderous applause.
Regardless of whether or not he made it through his performance error free, it’s a safe bet that some users would have some snarky comments to share with the masses. That comes with the territory on social media, as many users take great joy from being as sarcastic as possible. Sometimes it works and comes across well, other times the snark falls incredibly flat. That also comes with the territory on social media, as things that may come across well when they are verbally delivered can come out absolutely horribly when they are typed out.
Not all users viewed his rendition through a negative lens, and several took the time to praise Santana for his performance.
“Carlos Santana in a track suit is the best thing to happen to the NBA,” commented one user.
“Now Carlos Santana is an anthem we can all get behind,” added another.
As you can see, there are some users who prefer to see the positive side of things. Although those users can seem to be incredibly few and far between at times, they are out there, but they typically get drowned out by those that post the loudest commentary. It remains unclear why there are so many users that achieve a state of bliss when others mess up, but that’s not a phenomenon that will be resolving itself anytime soon.
