Cannibal Couple May Have Killed And Eaten At Least 30 People

A jailed Russian couple, 42-year-old Natalia Baksheeva and 35-year-old Dmitry Baksheev, have been accused of consuming the flesh of dozens of murder victims.

The Sun has since released a creepy picture of the couple kissing in a wood-paneled room alongside the headline: “’Cannibal couple’ apparently pickled their last victim.”

Russian forensic experts – who analyzed the frozen human body parts and “steamed meat” found at the Baksheev residence – first voiced their fears after discovering jars of pickled human meat in the fridge.

Since this information was made public, Mrs. Baksheeva has begun receiving death threats from her fellow inmates, with prisoners allegedly taunting her with calls of “Did you eat enough human meat?”

Mr. Baksheev appears to be in a similar position and, at this moment, the convicted murderer has been placed in solitary confinement for his own protection. Prison officials fear that, if Baksheev is left alone, his fellow inmates will beat or even kill him for being a cannibal.

Forensic analysts were sent to the Baksheev home – which is located within the grounds of an unnamed military academy in Kransodar city – after Russia’s Investigative Committee determined that Mr. and Mrs. Baksheev were responsible for the deaths of at least 30 people. Police suspect that the reprehensible couple may have also eaten flesh from the bodies of these murder victims.

The pickled human remains appear to be sourced from the Baksheevs' last murder victim: a 35-year-old woman named Elena Vashrusheva. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets News, the Baksheev couple pleaded guilty to murdering Ms. Vashrusheva during “a fit of jealousy.”

Mr. Baksheev’s difficulties in prison surfaced after a human rights activist, Viktor Belikov, visited the woman in prison and talked with her about her mental state and relationship with her husband.

After the meeting, Mr. Belikov admitted: “It is obvious that he loves his wife very much and worries about her,” and spoke extensively about the bizarre bond that underpinned the couple’s cannibalistic relationship. “Mrs. Baksheeva feels for her husband like a mother,” said Mr. Belikov, adding: “I am not at all sure what he or she derives from killing or human ties.”

According to The Sun, the people killed by Mr. and Mrs. Baksheeva were mostly female, with many of them going missing and unreported after Mr. Baksheev lured them to his home using online dating websites.

At this stage, regional police have not released a definitive statement on the murders, with Vadim Bugaenko, a police spokesperson, stating: “[we are still checking] information about mass murders as there is no confirmation yet.”

After originally admitting to cannibalism, Mr. and Mrs. Baksheev have since backflipped on the confession, with Mr. Belikov saying: “Dmitry has heard that the newspapers have called him and his wife Natalia cannibals. I would not say that he was angry, his reaction was more melancholic. But he fully denies having eaten human meat.”

Among several other damning pieces of evidence, Russian police have discovered several instruction videos in the Baksheevs' home that describe how to cannibalize a human.
