Candace Cameron Bure Had 'View' Audience Cheering In Support After Defending Patriotism

Though the U.S. government has a separation of church and state, should the same go for baseball?

God Bless America has been a staple of baseball games across the U.S. for as long as most people can remember. However, some say that God should be left out of the game and that Major League Baseball should end the singing of the 1918 chorus during the seventh inning straight.

The View made the issue a topic of one of their recent discussions, Christian Post reports.

"What I don't understand is, for people that don't believe in God, is why it's so offensive,” asked Fuller House star Candace Cameron, who is a devout Christian. “If you don't even believe and think God's a fairytale why does it offend you? Go get your peanuts and Crackerjacks while they're singing the song.”

Cameron said that people need to be more tolerant of things. Would Americans be tolerant if people sang about Allah or Jehovah or Buddha during the game?

“If we're talking about patriotism, then let's sing the National Anthem, which is patriotic and says to everybody, 'This is what we're talking about' ... After 9/11 we started using it ['God Bless America'] at the baseball games. So I think people are saying, 'If we're doing patriotism, we'd rather make sure that everybody feels included,’” said Comedian Whoopi Goldberg.

Goldberg said there needs to be a line drawn when it comes to patriotism and religion.
