Can You Spot Why This Photo Of Michelle Immediately Went Viral?

Former First Lady Michelle Obama always looked the picture of style and grace in her eight years in the White House. Now, during the Obama's down time, Mrs. Obama let her hair down. That is, instead of the sleek, pressed 'dos she was known for, she let her 'fro flow free'.

Many people on social media were thrilled when a picture of Michelle surfaced with her hair left in its natural texture. With a hair band to hold it back and a low ponytail at the nape of her neck, the non-straightened locks were called 'inspirational'.

Mrs. Obama's former hairstylist, Johnny Wright, said that Michelle would set the straightener down when she went on vacation, and that's exactly what the photo seems to have captured. It's unclear exactly when the photo is taken, but some speculate it was snapped while the Obamas were vacationing on the private island of billionaire friend Richard Branson. This was the first vacation the couple took alone after former President Barack Obama left the Oval Office.

The photo of Michelle has gone viral. Many women of color especially love it and praise the look.

"And with one photo, Natural Hair folks REJOICE like Sunday in CHURCH!! My #FLOTUS is working that puff! YAASSS!!!!" Tweeted one African-American woman.

"I Know [Michelle Obama] was tired of all those silk presses!!! Thankful she can finally flourish with her natural hair... you deserve it!" Tweeted another.

"She's living life and I'm all the way for it lol," followed up another African-American woman in a tweet.

African-American women have long been discouraged from leaving their hair in its natural state. In order to try and conform to society's standards of 'conventional beauty', many black women use a host of chemicals, products and procedures to make their hair fit the latest fashions. Some young African-American school girls have even been berated by teachers just for wearing their hair naturally.

Mrs. Obama, being such a strong and positive role model for women, is setting a great example.
