California Teen Returns Wallet Stuffed With Cash – To The Delight Of His Mother

Finding a wallet filled to the brim with $2,300 could lead to a bit of soul searching for just about anyone, but one California teen didn’t struggle with his decision at all. According to Opposing Views, it sounds like the apple didn’t fall very far from the tree.

Tommy O’Connor, a high school senior in Fremont, California, stumbled upon the wallet at a neighborhood 7-11. But rather than go on a Slurpee-filled spending spree, O’Connor simply took the wallet and turned it over to a teacher’s assistant for help in finding the wallet’s owner.

“It’s just doing something I wish everyone else would do,” said O’Connor.

Even more remarkable than O’Connor’s selfless nature at such a young age is the fact that his family is on a fixed income and struggles to make ends meet. In fact, the teen didn’t even have enough money to buy himself lunch the day before. The teen’s act of kindness was not lost on his proud mother, who shared her feelings with her son via text message.

“I’m very proud of you son. Ms. Kalra called me. Wow your one in a million [sic]. Love you to the moon and back,” Mrs. O’Connor wrote.

The wallet was returned to original owner, and O’Connor was awarded $50 for its safe and intact return.
