California Entrepreneur Takes Matters Into His Own Hands When He is Shocked by Soldiers' Treatment

Shlomo Rechnitz, an entrepreneur and philanthropist from California, was on a layover in Shannon, Ireland when he noticed a group of 400 U.S. soldiers eating their dinners out of paper bags.

He was angered when he noticed everyone else eating at expensive bistros. Rechnitz felt the soldiers deserved much better treatment, so he approached their commander and offered them some words of encouragement.

After that, he offered each soldier a generous budget of $50 to eat a meal at an airport restaurant.

Rechnitz explained, “I figured, I want to make the picture look a little better, and offered them $50 apiece to go to those restaurants and have a warm meal on me."

In the end, he donated $20,000 right then and there. The soldiers were then treated with the respect and gratitude they deserved.
