Butcher Comes Under Fire For 'Suicide Bomber' Bacon Promotion

Jeff Rapley is an Australian butcher who posted a sign stating that eating two strips of bacon “reduces your chance of being a suicide bomber.” Rapley apologized, and said he wanted to boost sales of his bacon.

The sign read, “Eating two strips of Rapley’s award winning bacon for breakfast reduces your chance of being a suicide bomber by 100%." It was displayed at Rapley’s Midtown Quality Meats in Narooma, New South Wales.

The sign's message went viral before Rapley took it down. Rapley told Narooma News, “I’m definitely not racist and didn’t mean for it to cause offense." Despite removing the sign, his bacon sales went up.

Bacon sales went up even though the owner was condemned for the promotion.
