Burger King Employee's Encounter With Elderly Customer Goes Viral

A young employee at the Burger King restaurant in Cape Girardeau, MO certainly has respect for veterans that have served our country. According to KFVS, Devante Nicholson personally thanks every veteran he comes in contact with.

Tina Readus was a customer at the restaurant one day and caught the young man’s kindness firsthand. She watched him come out from behind the counter to greet a veteran, who turned out to be 94-year-old World War II veteran Kenneth Haas. The man was initially confused and tried to give a coupon to Devante, who would quickly explain his reason for approaching him.

"Oh no, I just want to shake your hand and thank you for your service and for my freedom in our beautiful country," Devante explained.

Tina posted about the interaction she witnessed on Facebook, and Devante has captured some attention for his display of gratitude. He explained his reason for the simple gestures.

"People must take the time to recognize what certain people have done for us. As our generation, those men have fought, have taken care of us in order for us to have the generation in which we live. So therefore, we should take the time to recognize that and thank them for what they've done," he says.
