Broncos Super Bowl MVP Has a Message for the Police

Von Miller’s visit to his hometown was supposed to be a happy occasion but it fell on the day that Dallas, which is nearby DeSoto, lost five police officers in a sniper attack.

"Our police, our firefighters, the guys who work tirelessly to protect us — I know you have very difficult jobs, and hopefully we as a community can rise above this and learn from this," said the Denver Broncos’ MVP, according to Dallas News.

In an effort to show support for his hometown of DeSoto and his affinity for emergency service responders, Miller recently made generous donations to the town’s local police officers and firefighters.

Miller, who was named an MVP after helping to win the Super Bowl 50, not only signed autographs and met with DeSoto police and fire personnel, he donated a Ford Explorer police cruiser to the police department. The new police cruiser bears Miller’s image on the back of the car. He also gave $25,000 to DeSoto Fire and Rescue School for scholarships for people to attend the academy.

"We're Americans,” he said. “We're Texans. We're DeSoto Texans, and we're not going to let this overcome us. We're going to come out better by this."
