Boy Who Grew Out Hair, Donated It To Cancer Patients, Gets Some Bad News

A seven-year-old boy from Roseville, CA has been diagnosed with stage four cancer, and his family is doing all it can to raise money for his care and provide the support system he needs for his fight against the dreaded disease. According to the Daily Mail, the boy found out his diagnosis just after he had donated his own hair to cancer patients.

Vinny Desautels spent the better part of two years growing his hair out so he could donate it. Not too long after donating, he started developing some strange symptoms, including a swollen eye and some pain in his knee. He would wind up in the emergency room, where a growth would be found on his pelvic bone. Vinny was diagnosed with stage four cancer, and doctors are still trying to sort out the exact diagnosis.

His grandparents have started a GoFundMe page, and provided a little more background on Vinny in a posting.

“Our precious grandson, Vinny Desautels, is fighting a battle that no child should have to fight - the fight against cancer. He recently donated his hair to 'wigs for kids with cancer'. Even though he was teased throughout the 2 years of growing his hair out, it didn't deter him from his mission… to help a child in need. There are many more tests ahead and they're in the hospital for an undetermined amount of time,” the post reads in part.
