Boy Transitions To Being A Girl, 2 Years Later Makes Shocking Decision

For a grown adult, the decision to transition to the opposite gender is an undoubtedly complex one that most folks simply can’t wrap their heads around. There’s plenty of theories and medical reasoning out there for what leads someone to make that choice. For the most part, the world has evolved to the point that it’s understood to be a personal choice. Absent those that oppose it for religious reasons or those that just simply refuse to accept it as a normal choice, the rest of the world will keep on spinning round and live their own lives as those folks do the same.

However, it’s a little different when the transition has to do with a child. If someone is too young to be expected to make the decisions that an adult is capable of making, how can they be expected to understand the ramifications of such a monumental choice? The short answer is that they can’t, and that makes it all the more curious why parents of young children would authorize a procedure of this nature.

As shared by the Independent, here’s an interesting case in point on that. A 12-year-old Australian schoolboy decided that he wanted to transition into a female. Doctors diagnosed him with gender dysphoria, which indicates a person is going through distress due to a mismatch between their biological sex and gender identity. He begged his mother to allow him to begin the transition process, and she agreed. Two years later, there’s a problem. He’s changed his mind.

“You wish you could just change everything about you, you just see any girl and you say I'd kill to be like that,” the child recalls.

As he began going through the process, his appearance changed. Teachers started referring to him as a girl, and that led him to reconsider his choice.

“I began to realize I was actually comfortable in my body. Every day I just felt better,” he adds.

That led him to have a heart-to-heart talk with his mother, and he confided that he wanted to transition back to a boy.

“He looked me in the eye and said ‘I'm just not sure that I am a girl,’” the mother recalls.

The child has stopped taking medication, and he’ll be going under another procedure to remove excess breast tissue. It’s quite clear that the child is awfully confused about things, and we sincerely hope he gets the help that he needs to live the happy life of his choosing. That being said, there are a ton of questions swirling around in regards to this mind-boggling example.

While all parents want what they feel is best for their children, why would the mother authorize this before he was at least a little bit older? Granted, she was acting on medical advice - and that opens up additional questions. Gender dysphoria is incredibly rare, but diagnosis of the condition is on the rise. Why? While we can point to increased awareness as part of the reason, studies have shown that it can be found in one percent or less of the population.

Based on that alone, additional research needs to be done. As for parents, they may want to take a pause and wait until that additional research is done - at the very least.
