Boy Takes Online Challenge, Pays For It With His Life (PHOTOS)

Da'Vorius "Chi Chi" Gray, 11-years-old, died from playing games called "hangman" and "pass-out challenge" and his mom is blaming social media. Latrice Hurst, Da'Vorius' mother, said she found her son in the closet after her daughter said he was "playing a game pretending to be dead." Greer Police are investing the death after he was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hurst is warning parents that social media can be a dangerous place and, in her opinion, should be closely monitored for any child. Da'Vorius was using Kik, a popular messaging app, to play the pass-out games.

She issued a statement through 4 Points Church pastor, Mark Pangel. Some of what she said was, "If I could rewind time I would go back and monitor heavily his use of social media, youtube and the internet. ...He showed no signs of depression or destructive behavior, but Da'Vorius was prankster and love to play tricks. ...I would just say I don’t believe young people should be on social media and it should be limited to adults or at the very least with extreme adult supervision where the parents can see everything that takes place on the sights should be a requirement. ...the only healing is through a relationship with Jesus Christ."

This is a tragic loss and Latrice Hurst knows exactly how she is going to prevent something like this for any of her other children. She believes children should have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and less social media access.
