Boy Receives The Surprise Of A Lifetime By An Unlikely Person

A police department in Florida got an unusual request on their Facebook page. A mom asked if a police officer could escort her son somewhere. When the officers heard the story, they couldn't say no.

Lisa Portillo was worried about her 7-year-old son, Oscar. Three years ago, the little boy's father was deported. A year later, on Oscar's birthday, his dad was murdered in Honduras.

Every year, Oscar's charter school hosts a 'Bring Your Father to Breakfast' event. Oscar has never been able to take part. Portillo asked the officers if one of them would mind bringing Oscar to the breakfast. Oscar wanted to be part of it, but had no dad to take him.

The officers couldn't turn down the heartfelt request. Oscar had not one, but four father figures for the big breakfast. The smile on his face in photos and videos of the event says it all.

After the breakfast, the four officers signed a pledge. They promised to continue to step in for Oscar's father. They vowed they would support the little boy, encourage him and help him with school.

“That was the best day in his life,” Portillo said in a Facebook post. “He is still on cloud nine."

"Thank you, Lisa, for giving us the opportunity to be part of Oscar's life," said the police in a video post.
