Boy Found This Living In His McDonalds Burger
A New Zealand boy was about to dig into his triple cheeseburger from McDonalds when he discovered something disgusting: wriggling maggot eggs. McDonalds, so far unapologetic, is investigating.
Daynah Eriepa brought her younger brother through a Hamilton, New Zealand drive thru window and ordered his sandwich. When he unwrapped the burger, he noticed a clump of small, white grain-like objects between the meat and the cheese.
Eriepa posted a picture of the offending burger to Facebook. "This is what my brother found on his poorly made burger ordered from McDonalds Greenwood Street yesterday," she wrote. "Those small white worms looks like maggot eggs...How disgusting! [sic]"
Four hours later, the boy's mother returned to the McDonalds with the offending burger. Eriepa reports that the family was less than thrilled with the restaurant's response.
"She took the burger back as soon as she saw it and was passed around lots of different staff people," Eriepa posted.
"Another staff member took the burger and said he will show it to his manager."
"He put the burger on the counter and swiped the till, however behind the counter he threw the burger straight in the bin."
Now, a McDonalds spokesperson claims that since the burger was thrown away, a proper investigation cannot be launched. "Without the burger we will be limited in what we can test, but we will look at the images the customer took and work with experts to assess what facts can be established. Our franchisee is in contact with the customer and will update her as we progress our investigation," he said.
Maybe it’s a good time to re-train employees as well, in the event that bug eggs show up in sandwiches again.
