Boy Didn't Clean His Room, So Stepfather Murdered Him

A murderous stepfather from Pittsburgh has been imprisoned for life, with no chance of parole, after being convicted of brutally murdering his fiancé’s child from another marriage. The man in question, Orlando Williams, 39, was drunk when he killed his fiancé’s 8-year-old son for “not cleaning his room properly.”

According to the International Business Times, Williams was charged and found guilty of endangering a child and homicide. Williams only became homicidal near the end of a drunken night after he peered into his fiancé’s son’s room. Seeing the boy caused the drunken stepfather to become violent, leading to him slamming the 8-year-old boy into the hard floor while trying to throw him at the bed.

A report from the International Business Times claims that Williams wasn’t slamming his victim intentionally, but was trying to throw him into bed. The report alleges that Williams became angry after falling over a washing basket, causing him to throw his stepson at a nearby bed in frustration.

In a tragic turn of events, Mr. Williams missed the bed entirely and the young boy was knocked unconscious. Mr. Williams, who had spent the afternoon and night drinking at Ohiopyle State Park, yelled at the boy to get up.

The stepfather tried to get the boy to respond at least twice more before lifting him up and placing him in a chair downstairs. After leaving him in the living room chair, Mr. Williams collapsed in bed and went to sleep. When morning came around, the boy’s mother saw her son unresponsive and bruised in the chair and immediately took him to a nearby hospital.

Upon arrival, the young boy was rushed into the emergency ward, with doctors from the intensive care unit arriving shortly afterwards. Medical professionals quickly discovered that the boy had suffered from a herniated brain stem and was moments away from death.

Tragically, doctors were unable to prevent the 8-year-old from passing away, leading them to rule the death a criminal homicide when they found out what had happened. This ruling was supported by the coroner.

Mr. Williams was quickly charged and found guilty of endangering a child and first-degree murder. Over the course of the investigation into Mr. Williams, police discovered that this wasn’t the first time the man was violent towards his stepson. In one incident, Mr. Williams punched the young boy in the chest, nearly breaking two ribs, because he didn’t take the garbage out correctly.

The presiding defense attorney attempted to argue that Mr. Williams was a father figure to the young victim and had been devastated by the boy’s death. Based on this argument, the defense attorney attempted to argue that Mr. Williams was only guilty of manslaughter.

Judge Donna Jo McDaniel gave these arguments no attention, telling the Court that her ruling was motivated by the “specific intent” behind Mr. Williams’ actions. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Judge McDaniel finished her statement by saying: “I find it beyond reasonable doubt that he knew what he was doing.”
