Boy Begged His Mother Not To Drive After She Got High - She Didn't Listen

Police say a San Diego woman was on drugs when she wrecked her car, killing a 3-year-old girl, according to CBS 8.

Brandy Teague, 31, is accused of driving under the influence of drugs and suspicion of felony gross vehicular manslaughter in the one-vehicle crash in El Cajon. Officers said she might have been sleeping when her car struck a power pole Saturday night. Three children aged 2, 3 and 10 suffered serious injuries.

“The 3-year-old passenger was pronounced dead” at a hospital, Lt. R. Soulard announced. “The other two children were admitted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver complained of pain and was taken to Sharp Hospital.” Teague was treated and released, and is now behind bars at Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility.

Police are considering several additional criminal charges against the woman, including gross vehicular manslaughter, felony child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and driving while under the influence of drugs. Teague also was cited for driving on a suspended licence.

Mourning neighbors of the young victim created a memorial, featuring balloons and cards, at the scene of the crash. “We put the balloon with the flower bouquet over there for the little girl out of remembrance for her and respect for her,” Josh Petrick told CBS 8. “She’s not able to have her Easter today.”

Teague’s court arraignment is set for April 8.
