Boy’s Fate Revealed By Officials After Discovering Him Inside The ‘Heroin Car’

A police officer snapped a photo of a 4-year-old boy strapped into a car seat in the back of a vehicle, with his heroin-addicted adults passed out in the front seat. The photo went viral and the little boy, dubbed 'heroin boy,’ captured the hearts and sympathy of people around the world. The little boy is reportedly going to a new home.

The unnamed boy was in the custody of his grandmother, Rhonda Pasek, 50, because his own parents were unable. According to a Pasek's sister, who has custody of the unnamed boy's 3-year-old brother, the parents have 'no education' and 'no job.’

The grandmother had a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and brushes with the law, but her grandson was finally put into her hands. Pasek had only recently gotten custody of the boy after a two year battle.

Pasek and her friend, James Lee Acord, 47, were the adults in the front seat of the car in the well-known photo. The two had overdosed on heroin. Pasek is now facing charges of endangering a child and public intoxication.

Pasek's sister, who wishes to remain anonymous, is furious that the photo of her family was made public. "The city of East Liverpool humiliated my family and humiliated that little boy," she said. "They could have blurred his face and they didn't. And now they're taking him away from my sister. I'm not condoning what Rhonda done, but what they did to her and what they're doing to her grandson is too much."

A city official said the photo was a matter of public record and public officials are prohibited from altering the photos. "It's all or nothing for us. We're a government agency posting it," said Brian Allen, director of public services and safety in East Liverpool, Ohio.

Hopefully the child will end up in good hands yet. A court administrator announced that the young boy is going to live with a great-aunt and great-uncle in South Carolina.
