About 40 people began to march across U.S. Highway 75 in Dallas, while some remained at Fair Oaks Avenue and Park Lane across from counter-protesters who were waving flags for Texas, U.S. and police officers. The Black Lives Matter demonstration began at noon outside North Park Center, and was organized by 27-year-old Britny Morrison, according to DallasNews.com.
The Black Lives Matter and All Lives Matter protesters finally became sick of arguing over hashtags so they dropped them to form a joint demonstration in the name of peace.
After an hour of standing on opposite sides of the street, leaders from the two groups came together while Sgt. Jeff Hall, a 27-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department came together to help broker peace.
After some negotiating, both parties came together to shake and hold hands and pray together. When police officers joined the prayer circle, protesters laid their hands on them.
"We need that dialog so we can get understanding," said Ty Hardaway, who drove some protestors to the intersection. "The police need to explain to us their mentality, then, whether we like it or not or disagree, we need to be receptive to listen. Then they need to listen to our side."
