Bathroom Bandit Caught Trying To Sell Parts For Drugs

On Friday, police arrested Gilbert Duwayne Courts, 57, who is also known as the "bathroom bandit." Columbus police took him into custody for allegedly picking apart toilets to sell the parts for scrap in order to support a drug habit.

Investigators had previously received tips from the public. Officers also posted surveillance stills of Courts walking out of multiple local establishments with a backpack that police say carried urinal parts.

On April 27, Courts allegedly carried out heists against four different McDonald's locations and one Taco Bell restaurant. The Columbus Division of Police wrote in a Facebook post, "The suspect can't wash his hands of this crime, multiple felonies."

Courts was charged with 12 counts of burglary and 12 counts of vandalism.
