Baseball Coaches on Administrative Leave After Fight Club Discovered

Head baseball coach, Travis Collins and assistant Reagan Allen, have been on paid administrative leave since August after accusations were made about the pair allowing students to run a "fight club" in the batting cages at Plano East Senior High.

Documents released to the Dallas Morning News report that the coaches often subjected players to demeaning comments, especially if they were injured. One student said that it was as if the coaches were "playing a game" to give the "funniest nickname or phrase" to make fun of the injured player.

The coaches' lawyer say they "vehemently deny" the allegations, stating that the two have "dedicated their lives to the game." Attorney, Giana Ortiz, says that Collins and Allen were unaware of the fight clubs, but they were so widespread, it would be hard to imagine they didn't know.

The fight clubs were promoted on social media--players came to classrooms with black eyes and bruised knuckles. Senior Devin Gifford told The Dallas Morning News, "They criticized us when we made mistakes and praised us when we did well. They never pushed to make injured players play."

Allen has been with the Plano school district since 2003, Collins had been there since 2002.
