Barbra Streisand Notes Upcoming Special Will Be Her Last Live Performance - Ever

If you have the words ‘see Barbra Streisand perform live’ on your bucket list, you can go ahead and cross it off. That’s because she’s making it pretty clear that she ain’t doing it ever again - period. Unlike other famous faces that walk away only to come back again, her past actions indicate that we should take her quite seriously. However, there is still a chance to see the songstress perform on stage one final time.

As the Daily Mail shares, her new special entitled 'Barbra: The Music ... The Mem'ries ... The Magic!' is about to drop on streaming giant Netflix. It was recorded during a tour stop in Miami, and the preview from Netflix touts a special that runs nearly two hours in its entirety.

“Iconic songstress Barbra Streisand culminates her 13-city tour in Miami with dazzling ballads, Broadway standards and stories from behind the scenes,” according to the site.

She offered up some comments on the performance to the Associated Press, and she was quick to note that she has zero interest in performing live again.

“No I would never do another show. It's exhausting,” she said. “I'm not ever going to sit down and plan another show like I had to do with this one.”

So this is just a ploy to attract as many eyeballs as possible, right? We can’t say for certain one way or the other, but it certainly doesn’t seem like an empty threat. Way back in 1967, Streisand forgot the words during a performance. She didn’t tour for 27 years after that.

By all indications, her recent brief tour was a smashing success. In addition to Miami, stops included Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Toronto, Houston, Boston, and Philadelphia. Among the classics on the set list were ‘The Way We Were,’ ‘People,’ ‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,’ and “How Lucky Can You Get.’

The 75-year-old actress, singer, and songwriter has had a lengthy and legendary career that includes numerous Grammy and Academy Awards. On the screen, she received a Best Actress Oscar for her role in the 1969 film ‘Funny Girl,’ and she would also go on to receive a Golden Globe for Best Director for her 1984 film ‘Yentl.’

Among her numerous musical awards are a 1965 Grammy for Album of the Year for ‘My Name is Barbra,’ and a 1980 nod for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Duo or Group for the smash hit song ‘Guilty,’ which she performed with Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees.

We can safely say that there’s really nothing left for the star to accomplish, and fans that were fortunate enough to see her on her brief tour will have a lifetime of memories. Thankfully, at least one of those performances has been recorded for posterity, and fans of the legendary songstress will be able to stream it whenever they are inspired. We’re going to go out on a limb and assume it’ll be a runaway hit for Netflix, as well as an outstanding performance by Streisand that will leave her fans wanting even more.
