Bank Teller Withdraws Customer's Life Savings Days After His Death

Michelle Renee Crouch, 51, is a bank teller who allegedly stole $110,000 from Kevin Bolema's savings account just days after he unexpectedly died.

Crouch was a bank teller at a PNC branch in Muskegon, Township, Michigan. Her response to the allegations is she claims Bolema leant it to her for her mortgage. His family states that she went to his funeral and even hugged his mother.

She has since been charged with felony larceny of more than $20,000 and felony identity theft after police found out she stole the money from 57-year-old Kevin Bolema's account.

Bolema died unexpectedly during a fishing trip with his friends in the Upper Peninsula on June 19. Crouch only left $5 in his savings account. Her attorney, Matthew Kacel said, "It's kind of an odd situation. She's saying she had a really good relationship (as a friend) with the victim in this case, helping him organize his house, helping him out."

Kacel added, "She's always maintained that it was going to be a loan and she didn't steal the money, but unfortunately the timing of the thing is just crazy." Bolema was an aeronautical engineer for GE aviation.

His sister, Rhonda Bolema, said he would have never loaned his money like that. Rhonda also said, "My brother was very personable. He talked to everybody. He was everybody's friend."

Bolema's daughter went to the bank, after his death, to request his savings account be frozen. Unfortunately, it had already been pillaged.
