Autopsy Reveals Shocking News About Happy Days Star

Television fans were shocked to learn that a star of the hit show 'Happy Days' passed away. Now, they're in for some more sad news.

Erin Moran was America's sweetheart in the 1970's and 80's when she played the role of Joanie Cunningham on 'Happy Days', and spin-off show, 'Joanie Loves Chachi'. The star suffered an untimely death at the age of 56, and many speculated that drugs and alcohol had something to do with her death. A coroner’s report came back showing that Moran was not on illegal drugs or alcohol when she died. She succumbed to complications of stage 4 cancer.

An autopsy report confirmed that Moran's death was due to complications that arose from stage-four squamous cell carcinoma of the throat. Toxicology reports came back clean, and a police search of the late star's home turned up no evidence of illegal substances.

Moran's husband penned an open letter describing what his last days with her were like.

"She was feeling fine on our anniversary 11-23-2016. Maybe four or five days after we got back Erin woke up and had about a dime size blood stain on her pillowcase. She said I think I bit my tongue," wrote Steven Fleischmann, Moran's husband, in an open letter made public by her former boyfriend and co-star, Scott Baio.

"A couple days go by and there’s a bigger spot of blood. We get like 4 days into December, there’s more blood. I get a flashlight and say let me look. It was not her tongue it was her tonsil on the left side. I thought it was tonsillitis,” Fleischmann said.

Moran went to the hospital for tests, and doctors broke the bad news that she had cancer. She went straight to radiation and chemotherapy treatments, and it got so bad that she was not able to eat or speak. But, according to her husband, “She was still happy, she was active, she texted people on her phone all day."

On the day before her death, Moran had difficulty breathing. The next day, when her husband returned from the store, he found his wife laying in bed watching TV.

"I laid down next to her held her right hand in my left. I feel asleep woke up about a hour later still holding her hand and she was gone, she was just gone," Fleischmann wrote. "Norton Cancer Institute never said how bad it was.... The coroner told me it was really really bad. It had spread to her spleen, she had alot of fluid in her lungs and part of her brain was infected.”

Moran had not gone public with her cancer in the months that she was suffering, so her death stunned everyone, including her former co-stars. Since Moran had suffered from addiction in the past, many believed that drugs were the cause of death.

Even Baio thought drugs could have been behind the early demise. "For me, you do drugs or drink, you're gonna die," Baio said during an appearance on The Bernie & Sid Show shortly after getting the news about Moran. "I'm sorry if that's cold, but God gave you a brain, gave you the will to live and thrive and you gotta take care of yourself."

Baio later apologized for jumping to conclusions and added that he was specifically asked about Moran's struggle with addiction in the past. He asked people not to judge him based on his comment. "I'm very heartbroken over her passing, especially since it was cancer."
