Armed Men Rob Donut Shop, Begin Giving Out Free Treats To Customers And Witnesses

Police are on the lookout for three armed African American men who robbed a Houston donut shop, stealing money from the register and giving donuts to the customers who witnessed the incident. According to a statement from the Houston Police Department, the three robbers – who have been accused but not yet charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon – targeted the Shipley Do-Nut Shop in Houston. An Inside Edition report alleges that only one of the men was armed with a firearm (believed to be a handgun).

However, while 2 of the robbers went to work ransacking the business for cash, the third man took several handfuls of donuts and began distributing them to customers. As he did so, the same robber took each customer’s phone to stop anyone from calling the cops or recording him or his companions.

According to the San Antonio Current, the robber took to his role with relish, yelling "You get a donut! Everybody gets a donut!" while handing out the sweet treats. It remains unclear how much money the robbers took from the donut store’s register.

Security footage of the robbery – recently obtained by KHOU – shows the donut-distributing robber asking two bystanders what type of donuts they’d like. After they gesture at a section in the store’s display cabinet, the robber cheerfully handed the pair a few selections that they had pointed at.

For now, details about the robbers remain very scarce. Here’s what we know at this stage. Inside Edition provides the following descriptions for the robbers:

“Suspect 1, believed to be 5 foot and 8 inches, entered the donut shop wearing blue pants, a white bandana and a black hoodie.

Suspect 2, believed to be 5 foot and 7-10 inches, entered the donut shop wearing a red bandanna and another black hoodie.

Suspect 3, believed to be 6 foot and 2 inches, entered the donut shop wearing black pants, a black bandanna and a multi-coloured hoodie.”

If you’ve heard anything at all about this incident, Houston authorities urge you to contact them or call (713) 222-TIPS with any other relevant information.

The bizarre robbery has been met with a polarizing response from social media users. Many online commenters on the Daily Mail were quick to point out that, if they were in a similar situation, they would much rather accept the donuts than confront the armed robbers. “I'd take a donut over a bullet any day! Thank you very much,” wrote ‘FIzzyPop8’.

In response, another user, ‘americanblood’, slammed the customers and robbers, writing: “Stolen donuts being passed out in place in $800 dollar phones... Notice how they always give away other people's property yet never their own. Nothing but a bunch of donut holes IMHO.”

In a similar story, a man and woman from Los Angeles have been charged by police after they were arrested for their connection with the armed robbery of a Kim’s Donuts and Coffee in Burbank.
