Arizona Sheriff Explains How the White House is Preventing Border Patrol From Securing the Border

On Tuesday, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu held a press conference to explain the plight of Border Patrol agents. He said there are parts of the Mexican border in Arizona where they are being told to stay away. He also released figures that show the traffic of illegal immigration is up 25 percent this year.

He blamed the Obama administration for preventing border patrol agents from doing their jobs. In addition, he says there are 1,500 Border Patrol positions that have not been filled and 300 that have been cut. He says the White House stopped border patrol agents from patrolling large swathes of the Mexican border because it's just too dangerous.

He says the gaps in the border are being used as smuggling routes for drug cartels. Babeu said, "This administration has handcuffed the Border Patrol." He also stated there is a 102 percent increase in unaccompanied juveniles. He explains that if the border is not secured, it will become a route for terrorists.

Babeu stated, "This is a likely avenue of approach for them to come into our unsecure border. We should be putting every resource to the border. And instead of threatening the very people who are charged with protecting our country, securing the boarder, they should be finding ways to support them."
