Argument Over Freshness Of Bacon Leads To Altercation At Florida McDonald's

One of the many taglines for fast food giant McDonald’s suggests that visitors are ‘loving it.’ While that may be the case for many of the billions and billions served by the Golden Arches, there are of course some disgruntled customers from time to time.

Quite simply, it comes with the territory in the restaurant industry, and there’s not a whole lot that can be done to satisfy some customers. When things go awry, employees need to do the best they can to manage the situation at hand, but even their best efforts are sometimes just not enough.

As the New York Post shares, that was definitely the case during a recent visit to a Golden Gate, FL, McDonald’s by an unidentified woman that had gone through the store’s drive-thru window. She was displeased with her order, and she suspected that the bacon on her sandwich wasn’t fresh.

The woman decided to go into the store to sort things out. Then all hell broke loose.

Widna St. Jean, 24, was also in the store when the unhappy customer came in, and she would become involved in the discussion. The customer complained to the staff that the bacon on her sandwich wasn’t fresh, but the staff insisted that it was.

That prompted the woman to get even more upset, as she claimed to be a former McDonald’s employee, and she assured them that she knew what fresh bacon was.

St. Jean would step in at that point, as she didn’t care for the way that the woman was speaking to her friend that was working there. As the arguing continued, the McDonald’s employees finally came up with a solution: they were going to give the woman a sandwich that was more to her liking.

Exactly why this wasn’t the original course of action taken by the staff is incredibly unclear, but the woman finally got what she wanted and left the store. Then St. Jean decided to follow her.

The pair would start arguing again, except this time things got physical. The cops were soon en route, and they would arrive to find that the woman had suffered injuries at the hands of St. Jean, who was promptly arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery.

To say that this whole thing was a completely avoidable situation would be an understatement.

When a customer is displeased with their order, there are a couple of courses of action that should be taken. Arguing with them is not one of the choices. There’s three rather simple solutions that can quickly put the situation to rest: I can remake your order, I can provide you with a similar item to replace it, or I can refund your money.

While that doesn’t solve each and every customer complaint, it’s going to more than handle the overwhelming majority that come up in regards to problems with the order.

As for the uninvolved customer that felt the need to make sure that she was involved, she may want to find some better uses for her time in the future.
