Allegations Of Lollipops For Massages Emerge At Florida School

Third-grade students are still in the age range where carrying favor with teachers is pretty high on the priority list. According to WPBF, impressionable children at this Florida school have alerted parents to an unusual practice that gets them in the good graces of their teacher.

Crystal Leon’s daughter is a third-grade student at the Renaissance Charter School at Tradition in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Her daughter recently shared with her something that was going on at the school, and Crystal was pretty disturbed by what she heard.

“She came into my daughter’s classroom and asked her teacher, ‘Hey, I need her for five minutes.’ Then she brought (my daughter) into an empty classroom, and said her students gave her headache and needed a massage. (My daughter) gave her a neck and back massage and she sent her back to class,” Crystal explained.

The mom shared the story on Facebook and was contacted by other parents who had heard similar stories from their children. She reached out to the charter school’s parent company, Charter Schools USA, who released a statement on the matter.

“Our highest priority is the safety and security of our students. We take all allegations very seriously and conduct a thorough investigation. We have taken all appropriate actions however we cannot discuss any specific student or personnel issues,” the statement read.
