Alec Baldwin Under Fire For Teaching His Trump Impression To Young Daughter

Veteran actor Alec Baldwin has ensured that he’ll have plenty of work as long as President Donald Trump remains in office. Baldwin has been delivering his well-received impersonation of Trump on ‘Saturday Night Live’ for some time now, and many observers feel that he absolutely nails his portrayal of the commander-in-chief. The president doesn’t seem to care for it very much, but viewers keep tuning in, so we’ll lean towards Baldwin’s impression being a pretty good one.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, Baldwin recently found himself the recipient of some backlash, but it wasn’t because he crossed the line during a skit. His wife, 33-year-old Hilaria Baldwin, shared a video on social media of the actor and his three-year-old daughter. In the clip, the actor is doing his Trump impersonation, and he’s encouraging his daughter to do the same. Many outlets picked up on the clip and thought it was absolutely awesome, but a slew of users found it to be highly inappropriate.

“How sweet, You and Alec are proud he's teaching his child to hate. Tired of all the Hollywood bullies!” shared one user.

“Teaching her disrespect, how nice,” shared another.

Poking fun at the commander-in-chief is a staple of SNL, but some feel that the impression of Trump is particularly mean-spirited. It’s no secret that the overwhelming majority of those in entertainment circles subscribe to a liberal point of view, and they don’t seem to have even an inkling of a desire to hide that fact these days. Sketch comedy shows such as SNL are overrun with various hit jobs on Trump, and some viewers are getting tired of it. As for Baldwin, many users simply think he crossed the line by encouraging his adorable daughter to behave in what can be interpreted as a mean-spirited way.

“What a bad example he is setting for his daughter!” shared one user.

“Now that's great parenting......pathetic,” added another.

This will likely blow over pretty quickly, but it does serve as an example for those that make a living off of Trump-bashing. There’s a whole swath of voters that are tiring of the endless needling. While they can certainly flip the channel and find another program, that will obviously lead to declining numbers. Perhaps a more balanced take will help stem the tide, as there are plenty of things to poke fun at for both political viewpoints.
