Airline Tells Passengers To Stop Singing...Why?

The National Anthem has taken a lot of hits lately with people protesting it. It started with NFL athletes ‘taking a knee’, and now disgruntled Americans across the nation are ‘opting out’ of the anthem, saluting the flag or saying the ‘Pledge of Allegiance’.

This is happening with small children in schools, all the way up to members of local governments taking a knee before meetings, and many feel it’s gotten out of control.

Sadly, the patriotic tune has taken another hit this week. Passengers on a Delta flight on Sunday organized an impromptu tribute to a fallen soldier.

A Green Beret's body was being transported on the flight home, so the passengers began singing the National Anthem. A flight attendant came along and shut them down. One woman was furious.

Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright's body was being transported in a casket on the flight, and touched passengers wanted to pay tribute to the fallen soldier's sacrifice. As the casket was being transported off the plane, Pamela Gaudry quickly organized the singing of the 'Star-Spangled Banner'.

Many passengers stood and began singing passionately and reverently as the soldier's body was being transported. It was a feel-good moment for many who were touched when they heard about Wright being on their flight, and the sacrifice he made.

The National Anthem is all about the sacrifices that so many have made to secure our freedom.

A flight attendant walked down the aisle and informed the passengers that they weren't allowed to stage an impromptu sing-along.

"It's the national anthem," said Gaudry, shocked.

She claims the attendant responded, "It is against company policy to do that and so we are going to land and everybody is going to stay in their seats and be quiet.”

Gaudry made a video for social media to rant about the experience. She's furious.

"I'm humiliated by my lack of courage to sing the national anthem in my own country on American soil with a deceased soldier on the plane. I just sat there with tears rolling down my face," she said.

She's glad she brought the story to the public: "Hundreds of thousands of people now know that Dustin Wright died for our country and there were a lot of people on that plane that wanted to honor him. Hundreds of thousands of people are praying for this family now that weren't."

Delta contacted Gaudry to apologize. The airline told her that there is not actually any policy prohibiting passengers from singing. The flight attendant, they said, was incorrect and handled the situation badly.

She says she made 'some bad decisions in trying to make this situation go away'.

Gaudry says that the airline assured her that they'll be conducting some future training sessions to the flight crew so that when situations such as these arise they will handle it better. The woman complained, though, that the airline didn't offer her any form of compensation, such as money or free tickets.
