After Garage Floor Collapses, Family Finds Mysterious Underground Room

Brittany and Tanner Bush were recently asleep for the night at their Idaho home when they were awoken by a loud and unsettling noise. Fearing that someone had broken in, Tanner went to go check it out.

He couldn’t find anything amiss, so he and the wife decided that it was nothing and went back to bed. The following day, they would have the daylights scared out of them yet again.

This time, Brittany had gone into the garage to fetch some tote bags so that she could finally put away some Christmas decorations, and she wound up screaming her head off. Brittany fell through the garage floor, but Tanner was thankfully there to quickly pull her to safety.

The couple immediately thought that there was some kind of sinkhole opening up beneath their home, but they quickly realized there was something else underneath the garage for them to be concerned about.

As Inside Edition shares, the family found a hidden, underground room directly beneath their garage. That immediately led the couple’s minds to go racing, as Brittany recounted on social media.

“We went back to bed wondering what we heard,” she wrote. “Now we know.”

This isn’t just a random hole in the ground that the couple stumbled upon either. It’s a completed room, and to make things even more bizarre, they found that the county had absolutely no record of it when they tried to get to the bottom of things.

“[I] looked down and screamed for Tanner when I saw what happened. Feeling so blessed I didn't fall in!” Brittany recalls. “There is a room down there with shelves,” Bush said “It looks like a bomb shelter. The county has no record of this structure anywhere.”

Inside the room, the couple has found shelving, children’s toys, hair curlers, a woman’s handbag, and a letter. The couple called their insurance provider to come assess the damage, and an engineer came along to inspect the damage.

The pair was just as dumbfounded as the couple is, and they’re not getting the arm and fuzzies about the whole situation. The room was built under just about two inches of cement, and they’re concerned there might be even more to see here.

“He says this looks very sketchy and is wondering what the backstory is,” Brittany explained.

“They [the insurance provider and engineer] said, ‘Don’t be alarmed if there is a body down there. We hope there’s not but if there is, stop what you’re doing and call the police.'”

This is an incredibly bizarre discovery for the couple, and it’s easy to see why they’re feeling freaked out right about now. They go from getting startled by a strange noise in the middle of the night to Brittany nearly being severely injured when she falls through the garage floor.

On top of all that, they now have to be concerned with additional damage to their home, not to mention dealing with the creepy feeling that there may be even more to see underneath. While it could in fact be as simple as an unrecorded bomb shelter or basement addition, things certainly sound strange. We wish the couple well as they figure out what the heck is going on.

Hopefully, this is the last of the surprises they’ll come across for the foreseeable future.
