After Building Collapses Rescue Workers Find Something Odd In Lone Bucket

Last Friday, a six-story building collapsed in Nairobi, Kenya. It killed around two dozen people and injured over 100 more. Red Cross volunteers rushed to help clear the rubble and search for any survivors.

During their frantic search, they found an odd bucket. When they took a closer look, they were stunned to find an 18-month-old girl safely hidden inside. She had no visible injuries and was wrapped up in a blanket inside the bucket.

Kenya Red Cross explained, “A child aged about one and half years rescued alive at 4am and referred to Kenyatta National Hospital." Doctors examined her and found that she only suffered from dehydration. She is expected to make a full recovery and is lucky to be alive. It appears she may have been in the bucket around 80 hours before being found.

In addition, the building had been scheduled for demolition, but the evacuation order was not passed to the people living inside. The two brothers who own the building and three construction officials are expected to appear in court to face manslaughter charges for the incident.

It's unfortunate that so many people lost their lives over something that could have been avoided.
