61-Year-Old Woman Kicked Out Of Restaurant For Wearing This Hat (Photos)

The owner of a Mexican restaurant in New York allegedly kicked out a diner for wearing a hat and button featuring Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” on Sunday.

The Daily Mail reported that Esther Levy, a 61-year-old supporter of the Republican presidential nominee, claimed on the “New York For Trump 2016” Facebook page: “We were about to place our order with the waitress when she was summoned by the co-owner and told to not serve us and say we had to leave right away. The co-owner threw us out while screaming at me that he does not serve Trump supporters, and we have to leave right away and never come back.”

In an interview with MailOnline, Levy said she was “still in shock, and can barely eat or sleep since the incident.” She recalled that the co-owner told her she was being “thrown out for being rude to the staff and customers.” A spokesman for the restaurant told the news media that the staff does not “'discriminate against anyone based on race, religion, gender, sexual preference or political beliefs.”

In her Facebook post, Levy wrote: “Apparently it’s legal for a private-business owner to throw out anyone for any reason. So much for free speech.”
