13 Seniors Returning From Church Retreat, Then This Massive Truck Strikes Their Bus

Sadly, vehicular accidents on America’s roads and highways have become a depressing regularity. An increased number of vehicles on the road, reckless driving and the deteriorating conditions of America’s roads, have contributed to the increase in vehicle-related fatalities. One particularly horrifying accident recently received national attention after reporters from SBG San Antonio, described multiple fatalities in an accident in Concan, Texas, involving a truck and a bus. It is believed that a bus was travelling along Highway 83 North, near Garner State Park, when it collided head-first with a heavyweight pickup truck. At this stage, authorities believe that the actions of the man driving the truck were the primary cause of the accident.

The head-on collision between such large, fast moving vehicles subjected the occupants to phenomenal forces. As a result of the collision, 12 people in the bus were killed and 3 others were seriously injured, 1 of these people would later die of their injuries. The accident occurred at approximately 12:00pm as the bus travelled back from First Baptist Church in New Braunfels, ferrying elderly members of the church back home. The churchgoers had been at the church attending a multi-day camp, hosted by Alto Frio Baptist Camp and Conference Center.

The local community and the First Baptist Church in New Braunfels have been rattled by the multiple fatality accident. All activities and planned events were momentarily cancelled by the First Baptist Church and the Senior Pastor, Brad McLean, lead a heartwarming congregation several nights after the accident, offering prayers and support for the victims’ family. Following the congregation, Pastor McLean told a group of awaiting journalists, "As a church, we're waiting for some official news from authorities before we can speak to anything."

As a result of the gruesome accident, the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office closed a section of Highway 83 North for several hours. Since the terrible accident, the community have drawn upon their faith with Pastor McLean saying: "You never know what the day is going to bring. The Lord tells us that we have today, tomorrow is not promised."
