10-Year-Old Floors Cops When She Explains Why She Crashed Pickup Truck Into A House

Kids will be kids and get into trouble from time to time, but some incidents are so unbelievably shocking that they should generate a ton of red flags. This is one of those situations, and it happened in Kentucky.

A 10-year-old girl got behind the wheel of a pickup truck, and she proceeded to crash it into a random home. While that’s shocking enough in and of itself, the girl startled the responding authorities with the reasoning behind her dastardly deed.

As the International Business Times shares, the truck smashed into the home of Joshua Pate. He and his family are ok, but things could have turned out much worse.

His five children were playing in the living room at the time of the crash, which was right where the truck crashed into the house.

"The loveseat slid around and made kind of like a barrier...The back of it is kind of high, and I think the kids just slid with the loveseat," he explained.

Behind the wheel of the truck was a 10-year-old girl. Prior to crashing into the home, she had hit another car with such force that it spun around several times and left gashes in the pavement. The driver of that vehicle, Kristina Bryan, was bumped up and shaken, but she’s alright with the exception of a totaled vehicle.

The wayward youth driver was also uninjured, but she shared some shocking thoughts with police upon their arrival.

"[The officer] couldn't believe what she said. He was like, 'Excuse me?' and she said, 'I wanted to kill people,' and he said, 'I'm sorry, what did you say?' and she said, 'I wanted to kill people,'" Pate added.

"When I heard it was a 10-year-old girl, my first reaction should have been, 'Is she OK?' but when I looked down, there she was, walking from the truck to get into the back of a cop car. I knew she was OK," Bryan said. "Where was the parents when this little girl even got into the car? How did this little girl even get access to the keys?"

There’s a ton of unanswered questions here, and Pate and Bryan rightfully intend to pursue legal action against the girl’s parents. Pate notes that he forgives the young girl for her reckless behavior, but he has yet to hear a whisper from her family.

"All we want is an apology from the family, pretty much," he continued. "We haven't heard from them and haven't heard from anybody."

Based on the girl’s shocking actions and even more stunning confession, we’ll go out on a limb and assume the family has its hands full with her right about now. It’s unclear if she’ll be facing any legal trouble or not, but this is far too serious for it to merely be brushed away as a youthful indiscretion.

She could have killed not only herself, but several innocent people as well. For that, the girl and her family need to be held accountable, not to mention the fact that they sound like they’re in need of some serious counseling.
