10-Year-Old Boy Runs For His Life When He Sees A Gun Pointing At Him - Makes Huge Mistake

A 10-year-old black boy in Newark, New Jersey was terrified when police officers chased him with guns drawn. With all strife between police and the black community, the child thought the police were going to shoot him. It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

Patisha Solomon is one furious mom right now. Her 10-year-old son, Legend Preston, had the scare of his life when armed police officers thought he was a criminal and chased him. Legend ran because he thought he was going to be killed.

“One wrong move, and my child wouldn’t be here right now. My son could have tripped," said Solomon. "He could have reached for a toy. They could have done anything to my son and it could have been his fault.”

Legend was playing ball with other kids when the ball went into the street. He ran to retrieve it, when armed officers swooped down on him, mistaking him for 20-year-old Casey Joseph Robinson, the armed robber they were chasing.

The two look slightly similar in the face, but Robinson is 10 years older, has dreadlocks and facial hair. Legend has short, clean-cut hair and doesn't even have peach fuzz yet.

Solomon is furious that when the police realized they made a mistake, they didn't apologize.

“I was yelling at the police,” Solomon said. “Then one of the officers very smugly said, `You want to make a report, go to 32 Green St.’ and kept walking,” reports Solomon.

Legend was completely traumatized. She filmed the young, crying boy and brought him to the doctor.

“What option have they given me but to speak out,” Solomon said. “I didn’t ask for any of this. My prime concern is not an apology. My concern is reform of this system. I want to see accountability and responsibility.”
