X-Ray Reveals Indian Woman Has 70 Needles In Her Body - Has No Clue Why

When pain becomes unbearable, it’s always a good idea to get yourself to the doctor. In a best-case scenario, they’ll be able to get to the bottom of things rather quickly and have you on the road to recovery in no time.

For a worst case, there may be some extra poking prodding involved, which can include all sorts of tests to figure out what the trouble is. In the case of Anusuiya Devi, a 35-year-old widow from India, she would head to a number of doctors before finally figuring things out.

As Oddity Central shares, Devi would wind up at the hospital, and an x-ray would reveal some shocking findings. It was discovered that she had around 70 pins stuck in her legs.

The woman claims that she has no idea how they got there, and she’s adamant about the fact that she’s not into self-harm. That claim has been supported by her brother, Awadhesh Kumar.

“It has been five years now and she’s in so much pain every day. I am really stressed for her. There are three kinds of needles that come out of her body: nails, needles and syringe needles used in hospitals,” Kumar explained to reporters. “We have no explanation. I’m with her most of the time, and I’ve never seen her do anything to herself which would explain this. We just want someone to help us.”

Her story has become quite the local curiosity. It all started with her suffering excruciating pain, and it got to the point that she was having trouble with simple things such as sitting, walking, or standing.

It’s gotten to the point that she develops small cysts on her legs, and they will discharge fluids that pushes out a needle or a nail when they burst. Surgeon Dr. Naresh Vishal offered up some more info on this bizarre case.

“She came to us in a lot of pain. We did several X-rays including full body X-ray and we found 70 different kinds of iron needles in her legs below the knees,” Vishal said. “We did a full body scan to see if there were nails in other parts of her body but there was nothing elsewhere. We only found needles in her legs, nowhere else.”

Vishal still has no clue as to how this can even be possible, but Devi and her brother are standing firm on their contentions that they have no idea either.

“Medically, it is not possible for such needles to just develop in a human’s body. So far we cannot confirm how the needles enter her body, but we suspect the patient has been self-harming. We need to determine whether the patient has any kind of a mental illness and she forcefully inserts them,” Vishal continued.

Vishal further stated “I have never seen a case like this in my medical career. We spotted so many needles in her legs, we cannot understand how she’s coped with the pain for so long. She will have suffered greatly.”
