Mom Does The Unthinkable After Discovering What 9-Year-Old Did To Daughter
A woman is in hot water after she lashed out at a young boy for what he did to her daughter. The Missouri mom shaved the head of an unrelated 9-year-old boy and wrote 'pervert' on his head in felt marker. The mother believed that the boy had inappropriately touched her 9-year-old girl, and took justice into her own hands. Many believe the woman crossed the line. The boy denies that he touched the girl in a sexual way.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, lives in Eureka, a small suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. According to reports, the woman's 9-year-old daughter slept over her friend's house. The friend had a 9-year-old brother.
The 34-year-old mom was furious when her daughter came home the next day and reported that the boy pulled her hair and touched her inappropriately. In response, the mom pulled the boy inside her apartment, shaved his head and scrawled the word 'Pervert' across his forehead with a black marker.
The traumatized boy claims that he did pull the daughter's hair, but never touched her inappropriately. The boy was in the room with the two girls and pulled the girl's hair. She sat up suddenly in response and he says he accidentally hit her.
No word yet on whether the mother will face charges for the incident. On the Associated Press twitter feed, many commenters came forward to take both sides of the story.
"I like how the mum is being punished, but the kid -- WHO TOUCHED HER DAUGHTER -- is in no kind of trouble. Yeah, because that makes sense," commented one person, immediately defending the woman's attack on the child.
"Did the mom alert the boy's parents? Report this inappropriate touching to whatever authorities? There's more to this story. Has to be," noted one person.
Many said that even if the boy did inappropriately touch the little girl, at the age of nine, it was a good 'teaching moment', but assaulting him was not a good lesson.
"She had no more right to touch him then he had to touch her daughter," explained one Twitter user, who went on to say, "She is an adult who [laid] her hands on someone else’s child. she absolutely deserves legal consequences. This in no way is to say he doesn’t."
Some felt a minor bump-type touch should not be compared to sexual assault, and reminded everyone of the age of the children involved. “A 9 year old pervert? Isn't that a little too early for hormones to kick in, even for 3rd world standards,” a commenter added.
According to The Children’s Assessment Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, "As children begin to explore their bodies and experiment with their peers, parents should not shame, blame, or discipline a child."
The center put out a guide entitled, 'Children's Sexual Behavior and Body Safety'. It goes on to tell parents to not over-react, and to put a stop to the behavior by explaining that it's not okay.
