After Nagging Husband To Go To Doctor He Does, She Saved His Life

Sometimes family members can be prone to nagging about unimportant or irritating things. However, 43-year-old husband, Brian Walker, will always be thankful that his wife pestered him about going to see a doctor. Mr. Walker had noticed a small lump in his left arm in January 2015 but had thought nothing of it. As time passed and the lump grew rather than shrank, Mr. Walker continued to think it was a harmless insect bite. However, Mr. Walker’s wife, Helen, became more and more concerned at the rapid growth of the protrusion and began to fear it was a malignant tumor. Mr. Walker believed his wife was being overly dramatic but eventually, after weeks of nagging, he decided to go to the doctor to placate his wife.

When Mr. Walker walked into the practitioner’s office, the doctor immediately noticed the swollen bump on his arm and the concerned medical professional scheduled some tests. When the results returned, Mr. Walker was informed that the lump on his arm was an extremely rare form of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT), one of only five recorded cases worldwide. While the tumor was benign, it’s invasive growth still threatened Mr. Walker’s health and surgery was scheduled to remove the large lump. Prior to operation, it’s alleged that the tumor was the size of a human brain and was exuding fluids. Due to the protrusion’s size, surgeons were forced to cut away a large amount of healthy muscle tissue and skin, resulting in a gruesome laceration on Mr. Walker’s arm.

Luckily, Mr. Walker is believed to have recovered healthily and has an incredible debt of gratitude towards his wife, saying:

“Some people complain if their wife nags them but going to that appointment had a big impact on my life. I’m your typical truck driver, so I like to just get on with things, but I don’t know where I’d be now if I hadn’t gone”. Following the incident, Helen has affirmed that it’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to lumps, saying: “I’m very pleased I got him to go to the doctor. He could have lost his arm if he hadn’t been treated. The point is you can’t just regard a lump as nothing. It should be checked out”.
