Westboro Baptist Church Attempts to Protest Veteran's Funeral, Gets a Big Surprise

Westboro Baptist Church, a hate group, believes that God kills troops because of America’s acceptance of homosexuality. So, they protest soldier's funerals. Yes, it’s hard to believe that people like this exist, but they do.

Thankfully there are groups like The Patriot Guard that stop them. The Patriot Guard attends these funerals to prevent the funerals from being disturbed and to shield family members of the deceased from their hateful words. The Patriot Guard forms a human shield so protesters are out of view, while blasting patriotic music from their bikes to drown out their hateful chants.

“No family should have to face this type of hatred on the day that they’re putting their loved ones to rest,” said Patriot Guard member, veteran and pastor Ken Van.

Van attends as many soldier funerals as he can. And says that whether or not the Westboro Baptist Church shows up or not The Patriot Gang will show up to funerals to show their support for the families who lost their loved ones who fought for freedom.

When the Westboro Baptist Church decided they wanted to picket 25-year-old Marine Corporal Richard Bennet's funeral The Patriot Guard was there to protect the family and friends who were in mourning and give the soldier a dignified burial.
