North Carolina Waitress Sees Bill From Group, Gets Tip She Never Expected

A waitress in Charlotte got a shocking tip from a customer, but unfortunately, it wasn't a monetary tip. After the waitress served the woman her food, the customer decided to leave her an insulting Bible quote and rude comment.

The incident allegedly happened at Charlotte's Plaza Midwood at the Zada Janes restaurant. Alexandra Judd was working her shift and served two ladies sitting at a table. The women, she notes, were very rude to her from the start. They barely spoke to her, even when she asked questions, and seemed to ignore her when they could.

At the end of the meal, the two women asked for separate checks. One left Judd a very small tip. The other didn't leave a tip at all. On the tip line, she wrote, "Lev. 20:13.

That particular Bible quote reads, "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”

Some perceive the 'tip' as a death threat.

“I never expected a hateful gesture like this,” Judd said. “I’ve had a guest leave me a pamphlet to their church as a tip one time, but I didn’t feel as if they were being hateful towards me.

On the bottom of the receipt were the words, "Praying for you."

Judd wrote out an open response to the customer. “I don’t care what anyone says, this is the most disrespectful thing you can do,” she said in a Facebook rant about the event. “Don’t pray for me darling, I have everything I could possibly want and need in my life.”

Some wonder if the incident happened. There have been a number of cases lately in which wait staff claimed a customer wrote something rude, only for it to come out later that the waiter or waitress wrote it themselves to get sympathy and bigger tips. At the time of this writing, there has been no evidence to suggest that Judd made up the story, but the nagging doubt still remains with many people.
