Man Viciously Murders His Grandparents - This Was His Inspiration

Police say the man who killed his foster grandparents in their Glendale, California home may have been inspired by radical Islam. The killer admits he tried to behead the couple.

Nathaniel Scheiern, 35, is being held without bail after being charged with the murder of his foster grandparents. Scheiern allegedly attacked his grandmother first, and then his grandfather when he intervened. He used a hammer and an axe on the elderly couple.

The bodies of William Scheiern, 77, and his wife Verna, 82, were discovered after Nathaniel Scheiern's sister called police. She was worried and asked officers to check up on the well-being of the grandparents.

Police arrived and found the front door open and newspapers cluttering the porch. The officer claims there was a foul stench coming from inside.

Upon investigation, carpets and walls were covered in dried blood. They found the decomposing bodies of the elderly couple in their bed. Their bodies were covered with a sheet. A bloody hammer and ax were found at the crime scene.

Police investigated William Scheiern in the 1990's after Nathaniel accused him of molestation, but police said the accusations were unfounded. Nathaniel Scheiern has told police the attacks had something to do with sexual abuse.

Police found numerous declarations of jihad on Scheiern's Facebook page. “Praise be to Allah who [will] in searing pain smite my enemies with haste,” read one message. Many similar messages had been posted.
