Trump's First 100 Days: Restore Honesty, Accountability And Change To Washington

In the first 100 days of his presidency, Donald Trump plans to propose legislation repealing Obamacare and financing construction of a wall on the Mexican border, according to National Public Radio.

The government-funded media outlet reported that the president-elect also wants to enact congressional term limits, increase spending for infrastructure repairs, expand the military, and give parents more school choices.

In October, Trump indicated he would push for a “hiring freeze on all federal employees,” a five-year ban on “White House and congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service,” the “renegotiation” of NAFTA, and U.S. “withdrawal” from the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell shot down the term-limit plan. “It will not be on the agenda in the Senate,” he proclaimed. “I would say we have term limits now — they’re called elections.” The Kentucky Republican also indicated that he will not support additional infrastructure spending.

However, McConnell called Obamacare repeal a “pretty high item on our agenda.” The senator also called for changes in the tax code, as well as guarding the border “in whatever way is the most effective.” He did not provide further details about his views on immigration reform.

Regarding Trump, McConnell said lawmakers “look forward to working with him.” The GOP leader added: “I think most of the things that he’s likely to advocate we’re going to be enthusiastically for.”
